Viral video.
Last Sunday, a United Airlines passenger was forcibly removed from a plane before its departure. According to USAToday.com, the incident occurred after United "selected four passengers to be removed to accommodate crew members needed in Louisville the next day." Before the selection, flight passengers had been offered vouchers if they offered to give up their seats but none did.
A video of the encounter, which shows the passenger being dragged out of his seat, went viral. Customers are outraged and so are many celebrities, who took issue with the airliner's treatment of this passenger.
Actress Jaime King tweeted out that she'll never fly on the airline again and actor Alan Cumming noted that the company has lost another passenger. Selma director Ava DuVernay called the violent encounter "cowardly assault" on Twitter.
Television hosts addressed the issue as well with Ellen Degeneres stating that the company should stop overbooking their flights and late night hosts mocking the company's behavior. You can check out some of the celebrity reactions below.
Hey @united - never flying on your airline again. Know I'm not the only one. Your statement is abhorrently vague & without accountability https://t.co/vB2obe0dW1

Wow @united you've lost another customer here. Utterly despicable and sadly reflective of the atmosphere in the US https://t.co/qBoKxyCsxa

This could be me or you next time. Shame on @United who broke customer trust + instigated this. Shame on the airport cops. Cowardly assault. https://t.co/MY729HippE
