An all-original work of 23 songs ranging from reggae to Motown, gospel to modern rock, doo-wop to Afro-percussive, The Word is a fusion of electric and acoustic guitars, clavés, bongos, drums, recorder, saxophone and keyboard. Woven into the high energy is a range of vocal styles: soulful belting, praise-funk harmonies and much more. Going further than Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar by including the Resurrection, this colorful story of faith is the most sweeping in its genre – covering major events in both the Old and New Testaments.

Jesus enters the garden in the intense, black night. As the disciples fall asleep nearby, Jesus prays to God first to let this cup of suffering pass Him by, but finally that God's will be done. In the climax of His agony, Jesus accepts God's will as Judas enters and betrays Him with a kiss. Jesus takes up His cross and makes His way to Calvary as the crowd wails passionately and looks on.
