Lauren Daigle's "You Say" got a chillingly beautiful cover from a street performer. It's such a terrific and expertly performed rendition that you'll likely find yourself returning to it repeatedly. Watch the short but awe-inspiring clip to listen to and see the young woman perform "You Say."
Christian music is full of incredibly talented artists who continually produce catchy, uplifting and encouraging songs about faith and Jesus Christ. Every few weeks, another song from someone like MercyMe, Chris Tomlin, Anne Wilson or TobyMac is released that seems destined to become a classic. Once you hear those songs, getting them out of your head can be difficult.
However, as full of talent as the contemporary Christian music world is, within the last 10 years or so, no song has reached the heights of Lauren Daigle's "You Say." It's universally known and beloved, having gotten a ton of play on pop radio. It's also probably one of that period's most played and covered songs. In a clip posted on YouTube, another young woman, Allie Sherlock, covers "You Say," and she knocks it out of the park!
Allie beautifully performs Lauren's classic about turning to and finding one's identity and worth in Jesus Christ. She uses her musical gifts to bless the sizable crowd that has stopped to hear her and those passing by.
"You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And You say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don't belong, oh, You say I am Yours"
In addition to Lauren's terrific performance and the powerful lyrics, the biggest reason the song has become a classic is that everyone can identify with it. All, at one time or another, have come to a point where they feel worthless and unloved, and God was there to offer His love, mercy, grace and protection.
Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
