The decision to move former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort to New York's notorious Rikers Island jail is leaving many legal experts - and even some left-wing politicians - stunned.

A state judge ordered Manafort transferred to Rikers from a minimum security prison.  In an Op-Ed piece for Fox News, Defense Attorney Alan Dershowitz called it "another example of the weaponization of the criminal process for partisan advantage."

Even New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blasted the idea that Manafort will be held in solitary confinement, calling it torture and a human rights violation.

Manafort is currently serving a seven-and-half year sentence for non-violent white collar crimes.
