Twitter Suspends Account Responsible for “Misleading” Video of Covington High School Students

Twitter has suspended a “suspicious” and “misleading” account which made the Covington Catholic High School hate hoax video go viral.
According to the Hill, an account called @2020fight posted the edited video, which led to the widespread harassment of the high school teenagers. The account reportedly claims to belong to a California schoolteacher, but its profile photo is of a blogger based in Brazil.
The edited video made it appear that a group of students here harassing a Native American activist, when in fact the students were being harassed by a group called the Black Hebrew Israelites.
The teens received a number of death threats and violent messages from users online, including celebrities and journalists.
