(The Center Square) – After barnstorming battleground states with rallies for more than a month, President Donald Trump returned Monday to Washington, D.C. to make his final case before Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Speaking in front of the Reflecting Pool, fresh off refurbishing and refilling the iconic pool stretched between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, Trump touted his administration’s cleanup of the nation’s capital while making one final pitch for Republicans as Americans prepare to head to the polls.

The president reflected on record-low crime and the clean-up and restoration of statues, monuments, and fountains throughout Washington since Trump declared a crime emergency in the district in August 2025, which led to thousands of National Guard members being deployed to the city.

While focusing much of his Monday speech on the D.C. clean-up, the president aimed at Democrats, claiming “the Democrat Party has nominated the most extreme and dangerous slate of candidates in American history.”

The president singled out Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, calling him a “jihadist,” and accusing the candidate of “campaigning and soliciting signatures at radical mosques.”

While the president did aim at Democrats, he spent a portion of his speech touting accomplishments from his administration as well as Republicans, highlighting tax cuts from his “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” He also highlighted his decision to target Venezuela with the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and his wife, leading to the U.S. striking massive oil deals with the South American country.

The president told the audience, comprised mostly of National Park Service employees, that if Republicans maintain control of the House and Senate, every American adult would receive $5,000, a promise that has drawn criticism from Democrats and some in his own party.

Trump’s final speech comes ahead of seven tele-rallies he has scheduled for Monday night and on the heels of holding 30 rallies across the country.

White House Assistant Press Secretary Liz Houston highlighted what she said were the president’s accomplishments, reiterating Trump’s final appeal to voters, including his hectic schedule over the final month leading up to the campaign.

“President Trump has been on the road nonstop, traveling across the country to highlight what his administration has delivered for the American people. The President signed the largest working-class tax cuts in history, lowered the cost of prescription drugs, sealed the border, drove violent crime to the lowest level in nearly a century, unleashed an energy revolution, added more than a million private-sector jobs, and sent Americans’ 401(k)s climbing to record highs,” Houston told The Center Square.
