Barber, Saldana capture U.S. Women's Amateur Four-ball

CARROLLTON, Texas (AP) — Savannah Barker and Alexa Saldana are winners of the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-ball Championship. They were never seriously tested at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas, after getting out of qualifying. All their matches ended on the 15th hole. That changed in the semifinals when they lost a 3-up lead and had to go 20 holes to advance. In the championship match, Barker and Saldana won six of the last eight holes for a 5-and-4 victory over Jillian Bourdage and Casey Weidenfeld. It was the shortest match since this event began in 2015. Bourdage and Weidenfeld also finished second the last time it was played.
