The Burning Bush | Weekend Torah Teaching
Podcasts > Timeless Wisdom with Dennis Prager
Saturday, September 19, 2026
In this Weekend Torah Teaching, Dennis Prager continues his study of Moses and the burning bush, exploring what makes Moses such a remarkable choice to lead the Jewish people out of Egypt. When God calls Moses to confront Pharaoh, Moses does not respond with confidence or ambition. Instead, he asks, “Who am I?” Dennis explains why Moses's reluctance and humility are among the very qualities that make him worthy of leadership.
Dennis then examines Moses's second question: “Who are You?” Why does Moses need to know God's name? Dennis explores the profound meaning behind God's answer, “I am what I am,” and what it reveals about the nature of God and humanity's ability to understand Him.
But Dennis believes there is an even deeper lesson hidden in God's response to Moses. How can Moses know that God is truly with him? Dennis argues that, just as Moses would only know God's hand was guiding him after successfully completing his mission, we often recognize God's role in our own lives only in retrospect. What does Moses's story teach us about faith, doubt, and recognizing God's presence in our lives?
