They’re at it again. President Trump and Elon Musk are engaged in a new war of words. Musk has ramped up his criticism of the big bill of tax breaks and spending cuts, calling it “political suicide for the Republican party.” The billionaire Tesla CEO wrote on X that any lawmaker who votes for “the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame.” The president responded by blasting Musk over electric vehicle subsidies. He also hinted that federal contracts with Musk companies could be in jeopardy, saying Musk has a lot to lose.
President Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for talks at the White House next Monday. That’s according to two U.S. administration officials familiar with the matter who were not authorized to comment publicly on it. The trip will be Netanyahu’s third visit to the White House since Trump returned to office in January, and it comes after the United States inserted itself into Israel’s war against Iran by attacking Iranian nuclear sites. After brokering a ceasefire between the two countries, Trump has signaled that he’s turning his attention to bringing a close to the fighting between Israel and Hamas.
President Donald Trump says migrants would need to know “how to run away from an alligator” to flee the new detention center he’s visiting in a remote area of the Florida Everglades. Trump toured the facility on Tuesday, getting a firsthand look at what the White House suggests will be especially secure given its dangerous natural surroundings. The center has been assembled on an isolated airstrip and has drawn protests over the potential impact on a delicate ecosystem and for a potentially cruel message the Republican president is trying to send to immigrants. A key selling point for the White House is the site’s remoteness.
Zohran Mamdani has won New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary. A new vote count Tuesday under the city’s ranked choice voting system confirmed the progressive legislator’s stunning upset of former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Mamdani declared victory last week after taking a commanding lead just hours after the polls closed. Cuomo conceded the contest on the night of the election but is contemplating whether to run in the general election on an independent ballot. The field of candidates in the general election will also include incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, independent candidate Jim Walden and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
The Senate has passed President Donald Trump’s big bill of tax breaks and spending cuts, with Vice President JD Vance breaking a 50-50 tie to push it over the top. The bill next goes back to the House, where Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana warned off big revisions from his chamber’s version. But senators did make changes, particularly to Medicaid health care. Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota worked through the night and into Tuesday to strike a last-minute agreement between Republicans worried the bill’s health care reductions will leave millions without care and his conservative flank seeking steeper cuts to hold down deficits. Rand Paul was among three Republicans opposing the bill.
Zohran Mamdani wants the government to run grocery stores in New York City. New York billionaire and Grocery titan, John Catsimatidis, joins Mike to discuss just how dangerous this idea is.
